Finnish history and culture for first-time visitors, expats and international experts.

Discover Helsinki through my guided tours, and contact me to promote Finnish culture and heritage in English and in French!

Guided Tours

Hi, I'm Marikit, and I'm a historian specialised in the promotion and conservation of architectural heritage.

Over the years, I have given close to 450 guided tours and conferences, in English and in French.

A few years ago, I left Switzerland, where I was the conservator and manager of a UNESCO World Heritage, to live in Finland and develop other ways of sharing my knowledge and love of research.

Follow me through the streets of Helsinki and I will introduce you to lots of history, fun anecdotes, hidden gems, everyday topics and all the aspects of Finnish life that I love.

« Marikit was fabulous and made my visit one of the most incredible experiences I have had in a long time. »

Lectures

Lectures are a great way to reach a public who loves in-depth talks and discovering new things. They also allow us to share archives and images that are seldom on display.

Over the years, I have given lectures for museums, associations, schools and universities, as well as cultural agencies throughout Europe. I enjoy participating in congresses and I'm always excited about presenting my latest and most interesting research.

Community Building

Share content from your collections or research topics in a fun and interesting way, make your exhibitions come alive, and build a community around your values and goals.

Whether through digital marketing, social networks, the creation of original tours, workshops, booklets, or immersive experiences and surprising events, there are hundreds of ways of getting your visitors involved.

As a born storyteller and passionate researcher, there is nothing I will love more than digging into your particular topic and content, and finding innovative ways of making it fun for others.

Research & Writing

As an independent art historian, I do research for public and private institutions, companies and individuals. Whether for publications, exhibitions, private archives, family histories or personal stories, I can research, organize archives, write, publish or create cultural events.

I also love to write articles and short pieces on culture, living traditions, history, art history, architecture, traditional handicrafts, watchmaking and travel.

The Art Nouveau photos on this website were taken by my friend and colleague, the Swiss photographer Aline Henchoz, who came to see me (twice!) in Finland.

I thank her for letting me use her pictures, and for all our wonderful collaborations over the years.
